Raising The Bar
Hodder, Wang LLP is the continuation of the law practices of Yan Wang and Gary Hodder in downtown Toronto.
Ms Wang practices principally in the area of commercial transactions, financings and commercial real estate. She also provides supervision of our Mississauga staff, who offer services in all real estate transactions from condos to farms to real estate development all over Southern Ontario.
Mr Hodder has been practicing civil litigation in Toronto since his call to the bar in 1985. He was certified in 1996 as a specialist in civil litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada (now the Law Society of Ontario).

J. G. HODDER
Senior Litigator
J. Gardner Hodder was called to the Bar in 1985 after an earlier career as a journalist and graduate study in literature. He holds degrees from Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Toronto.
Mr. Hodder’s expertise is in Civil Litigation. In 1996, he was certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in this area. Mr. Hodder has also written poetry, short stories and journalistic articles.

YAN WANG
Senior Corporate Counsel
Yan Wang joined Hodder Barristers as a junior associate after being called to the Ontario Bar in 2008. Yan received a Bachelor of Science from University of Western Ontario and a Master of Mathematics from University of Waterloo. In 2007, she obtained her Bachelor of Laws from University of Western Ontario with an area of concentration in Intellectual Property, Information and Technology Law.
Yan is fluently bilingual in English and Chinese. She has a wide, international, and cultured perspective on the world, with family roots in China and secondary education in Britain. In the summers of law school, Yan did her mini-pupilage with a prestigious Barrister Chambers in Lincoln’s Inn, England and an internship with a national firm in Beijing, China.
Yan is currently a member of Canadian Bar Association and Ontario Bar Association. She is also a member of Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.

Li He
Associate
Li is an associate focused on commercial litigation, commercial transactions, and corporate services. Li is fluently bilingual in English and Chinese and has experience reviewing complex Chinese legal documents.
Li joined Hodder, Wang LLP as a summer student in 2017. Li received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto before obtaining his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2019.
Hui Ding (Lola)
Associate
Lola is an associate lawyer with a focus on Canadian immigration law and commercial law. She has experience helping clients navigate the complex Canadian immigration system, representing them in federal court, and providing legal advice to commercial clients.
Prior to joining Hodder, Wang LLP, Lola worked at a national law firm’s immigration section and also experienced in-house roles as a junior lawyer.
Jason Fu
Articling Student
Jason graduated with a Bachelor of Law from City University in Hong Kong. Jason first worked for Hodder, Wang LLP as a law clerk, where he provided essential support to our legal team by conducting research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with case preparation. Jason can speak English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Louis Liu
Articling Student
Louis completed a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Law, followed by a Master of Laws with Distinction from the University of Hong Kong. Before joining Hodder, Wang LLP as an articling student, Louis gained valuable experience working at a community centre in Toronto, where Louis provided support to low-income individuals and families. This role honed Louis’ ability to connect with diverse communities.
At the firm, Louis focuses on commercial litigation and corporate practice, drawing on a strong academic background in law and business. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, Louis leverages multilingual skills to effectively communicate with clients and handle complex legal matters. Louis’ work involves conducting research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with case preparation.
Ian Xie
Law Clerk
Ian graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Paralegal Studies from Humber College. Prior to joining Hodder, Wang LLP, he worked for several years as a process server, dealing mainly with Toronto area courts. His experience in dealing with the administrative aspects of the court system serves him well in his role as law clerk at Hodder, Wang LLP.
Ian works primarily with the firm’s litigation practice, drafting documents, conducting legal research, and assisting counsel at hearings. Ian also frequently assists the firm with corporate matters, such as incorporation of businesses and drafting of minute book documents.
